Marie O’Neill (She/her)
PhD (Librarianship - in progress), MA (Library and Information Management), Graduate Diploma (Library and Information Studies), Graduate Diploma (Business Studies), BA Hons (Arts).
Marie is an experienced higher education professional with over 30 years of experience across a diverse range of leadership and professional roles. Her expertise spans research systems, librarianship, academic enhancement, research support, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), programme development, validation, and accreditation. Marie has worked with a wide range of institutions including King's Inns, Technological University Dublin, the Health Service Executive, University College Dublin, the Welsh Office, the Oireachtas, Dublin Business School, CCT College Dublin, and IADT.
Throughout her career, Marie has chaired numerous institutional committees focused on quality enhancement, academic integrity, and librarianship. She has served as a departmental representative on Academic Councils, accreditation panels, and validation and programmatic review panels conducted by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI). Additionally, she has represented institutions in external organisations such as the National Academic Integrity Network, AsIAm, and the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning.
Marie has published in the peer-reviewed academic literature on topics including academic integrity, open-access scholarly publishing, librarianship, e-portfolios for professional development, and universal design for learning. Marie is an Editor on The All-Ireland Journal of Higher Education (AISHE-J). Marie has also participated in a wide range of events organised by bodies such as the International Centre for Academic Integrity, NTUTORR, the International Federation of Library Associations and QQI as a keynote, panellist, session chair or speaker.
Dedicated to continuous professional growth, Marie has earned digital badges from the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, including facilitator certifications for Universal Design for Learning, Getting Started in Online Teaching and Learning, and PACT PD. She has also led institutional iterations of the Universal Design for Learning badge. In 2024, Marie completed a microcredential on Including People with Intellectual Disabilities in Higher and Further Education at University College Cork and is currently pursuing a part-time PhD in Information Science at the School of Communication and Information Studies, University College Dublin.
